Lord of Life Kindergarten Academy is a private, developmentally appropriate research-based, national school of excellence, kindergarten - 1st program designed to incorporate the latest in early childhood learning research in a Christian, anti-bias, safe and nurturing classroom environment.

The program is based on Gardner 's Theories of Multiple Intelligence (MI) which addresses verbal-linguistic, math-logic, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist learning modes. The fact that these intelligences can be nurtured and strengthened has a monumental influence on how children should be taught for maximum learning, understanding, and achievement.

The underlying framework for the use of MI in the kindergarten classroom is understanding and being aware of these different learning modes and thoroughly incorporating them in the curriculum taught, in the method of teaching, as well as, in the total classroom environment.

What you will see in our classrooms

You will see children truly engaged in developmentally appropriate learning. You will walk into a kindergarten - 1st classroom that is fully equipped, literacy rich, and child-friendly. Children will be engaged in hands-on learning, working in various peer groups and actively participating in the learning process. They will be learning to solve real problems by becoming “people smart,” evaluating solutions, and reflecting on the results. Their experiences, thoughts, and ideas will be honored and will fuel the learning process. Curriculum, instruction, and assessment will be an ongoing, individualized, and a developmentally appropriate process.

Children will be met where they are in each of developmental domains and will be cared for and nurtured to reach their fullest potential. Children have an unending potential to learn even the most complex, abstract, and powerful ideas when they are given the full opportunity to personally contribute to, and participate in, a “lived” curriculum experience.

What you won’t see in our classrooms

You will not see children working on a pile of ditto sheets, sitting in prearranged desks, waiting in lines for the next transition. You will not see children pulling tallies or sitting in time-out. You will not see skill and drill forced memorizations of decades-past and endless pointless seatwork. You won’t see your child’s experiences, thoughts, and ideas being put in the “that’s nice but doesn’t really matter now” box. You won’t see a one- shoe-fits all philosophy where time and resources do not allow for individual attention, learning, and educational tracking.
